Small Downtowns: Tawas City Michigan and East Tawas

Today, we are continuing our small dowtowns video series in Tawas City Michigan and East Tawas. This small town is located right on the beautiful great lake Huron in Northern Michigan. I was very surprised at how fun this small town was to visit. It had a very cool downtown area (located in East Tawas) and some very nice beaches and piers. Personally, I think the Great Lakes that surround Michigan are very pretty lakes and Michigan has some gorgeous beaches. The downtown area of Tawas included several cute shops, coffee shops, restaurants, a couple of bars, antique stores, a candy shop called the Village Chocolatier, and even had a 2 screen movie theater. The expanded town also had restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, and a Walmart. It was a good sized tourist town and seemed to be quite popular this time of year. We also visited three park/beaches, two of which had piers you could walk out on and sit/fish. The beaches were clean but a bit small. I didn't get into the water because even though it was warm day, the lake was quite cold. Overall, if you are in Michigan I would suggest spending a day in Tawas City.
