This Hunt Was Never About the Elk | New Mexico Youth Hunt

This hunt wasn’t about filling a tag. From November 29 to December 3, I took two of my kids on a New Mexico Youth Encouragement Elk Hunt near Datil, NM. We tent camped for six nights, hunted for five days, and spent every morning talking about expectations—and every night reflecting on the day. We missed on one elk. We saw elk, whitetail, mule deer, wild hogs, pronghorn, rabbits, cattle, and horses. But what mattered most was time together in the wilderness—early mornings, cold hands, big conversations, tired smiles, and shared memories that will last far longer than any harvest. This film is mostly for my kids. But if it inspires anyone else to slow down, take their family outside, and chase something bigger than success—then that’s Peak Pursuits Adventures. Thanks for watching.
