Andrew Garner | Duncan Wright - Baillie Gifford’s Kubernetes Cloud Journey

In a bid to modernise their Kubernetes estate and to become more Cloud Native, Baillie Gifford recently migrated the entirety of their on-prem Kubernetes platform into the Cloud. Moving from imperative scripts and pipelines to IaC with Terraform and GitOps with FluxCD, not only has the platform been enhanced, but the workflow too. The talk will cover aspects of previous pain points with the older platform, how we went about designing and building the new platform, and a little on the journey to migrate over 1500 workloads. We will look at the improvements we made, as well as lessons learned and what we are looking towards next.
