We couldn't believe it...Lake Balaton completely frozen over! This is Hungary like you've NEVER seen it before! Join us on another freezing winter morning in Moravske Toplice as we finally track down those elusive bureks from the local supermarket before setting off on an unforgettable cross-border road trip. Our destination? The icy shores of Lake Balaton — but this time, we explore a completely different side in the charming lakeside town of Keszthely. Instead of taking the highway, we gamble on the shorter back roads through the mountains… and what we discover along the way is absolutely breathtaking. Snow-covered landscapes, quiet villages, and one of the most scenic winter drives we’ve experienced. Braving the bitter cold, we attempt to capture drone footage over the frozen lake before retreating to warm up at a local favourite — John’s Pub, Bar & Kitchen, where the food definitely hits the spot. With full stomachs and thawed fingers, we return to the lake to explore the iconic Szigetfürdő, where we even witness a couple of brave locals taking on the icy waters! Before heading back, we pass by the home ground of Keszthelyi Haladás SC and make the longer but easier freeway journey back into Slovenia.
