Taking apart a connector for; MCM, ACM, SAM cab or SAM chassis

Takes 5-10 min to transfer over the yellow latch and red rails from a new connector to a old one. If you have broken the yellow connector latch on a Detroit Diesel aka DD motor computer, most of the time you can order a new connector and replace just the yellow latch (pinion) and it’s mating red tails (rack). The only time you would have to replace the whole connector is if the little black pivot for the yellow latch is broken. Trust me, it’s worth it to just transfer over the latch. I have had some that the yellow terminal unlock tab broke internally. It took two hours to transfer over terminals to the new connector. Some I had to repin. And if you don’t have the correct seal crimper for MCM battery terminals (12 gauge thick wire) you’ll have trouble getting those terminals into the connector.
