Washington swelters as extreme heat hits July 4 celebrations
An extreme heatwave across much of the United States is set to bring dangerous conditions to Washington during America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Temperatures are expected to reach and remain around 38C (100F) for several days. Outdoor events, including the major fireworks display, could be affected by the severe conditions.
