The Princes' Stadium in Paris hosted a thrilling duel between Real Madrid and Stade de Reims. Real Madrid won the first five editions of the competition, until Benfica took over. The Portuguese side won two consecutive European Cups, and the Italian club Catenaccio began to dominate European football. After Real Madrid's Sixth Cup, Celtic Glasgow won the first European Cup for British football, and United won the first for English football. The 1970s saw the beginning of Dutch football's dominance, with Feyenoord first (1969) and later Ajax revolutionizing European football. Led by Johan Cruyff, the Amsterdam club won three consecutive tournaments, but later, Beckenbauer and Torpedo Müller's Bayern Munich emerged to equal the feat. The 1980s saw clear English dominance, with Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa delivering six consecutive trophies to the Queen Mother of England. In 1983, Hamburg became the second German team to win the European Cup, and Liverpool's fourth European Cup was followed by the Heysel tragedy. Juventus won their first European Cup amid hundreds of deaths on one of the saddest nights of the competition. In 1986, Steaua Bucharest became the first team from the east to lift the trophy, while in 1987, Porto lifted Portugal's second European Cup. PSV surprised everyone by winning the 1988 tournament on penalties, and at the end of the decade, Sacchi's Milan emerged. The Rossoneri won two consecutive European Cups, while in 1991, Red Star became the first Yugoslav club to lift the trophy.
