(Updated) Evolution of Windows Startup Screen 1985-2022
After 1 year,Version 2 of Windows Startup screen is finally released :) Changes : 1. Added Windows NT 3.X version, Windows 3.0 MME, Windows Server version and latest Windows 11 preview 2.fixed bugs 3.added intro 4.updated some version of Windows startup screen, including Windows 11 one Please note: for a technological reason, i can't get sound driver work in Windows NT 3.1.If the sound driver work in Windows NT 3.1,the tada.wav will be played.Plus, due to copyright claim reason, I muted the Windows NT 5.0 startup sound. If the sound is played,it will sound like this : • windows NT 5.0 /windows 2000 beta startup ... .Finally, for some weird reason, the logon sound of Windows Server 2008 R2 didn't record when i am recording. P.S , before dislike this video , please notes: 1.Windows do not have sounds before windows 3.0 MME. 2.Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 and Beta 2 used windows NT 4.0 as shutdown sounds instead of windows 2000 beta 3 build 1946-1969 startup sound. The long startup sound is introduced in build 1671 and used until build 1911. Before that , Windows NT 5.0 used Windows NT 4.0 startup and shutdown sounds. 4.Windows Whistler used 2000 sounds until build 2485(2481 does have windows xp sounds but they still use 2000 sounds as default). 5.The windows longhorn sounds that widespread believe • Windows Vista Beta Sounds (incorrect) is fake and never used in any windows longhorn builds. The origin of the sound theme is actually came from an official Samsung desktop theme for Windows XP. Windows longhorn used windows XP sounds until 5840.16384(while later builds used Windows Vista RTM Logoff sound as the shutdown sound.) 6.Starting from Windows server 2008,as Windows startup sound is broken in Server Version of Windows, only logon sound will be played in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.Since Windows Server 2012,logon sound is disabled by default and no sound will be played during startup in Windows Server 2012 and onward.
