Experiential Learning and Skills Development for Early Years

The early years are when children learn best through experience — through play, exploration, making, building, and doing. And yet so much of early education still defaults to passive instruction, leaving a gap between how young children actually develop and how they are taught. In this episode of the Little PM Learning Series, host Anara and Edward is joined by Mollie James to explore what experiential learning really looks like in early years settings — and how it can be structured to build lasting, transferable skills. From communication and resilience to collaboration and creativity, they’ll discuss how the right environment and the right experiences can give children a skills foundation that stays with them long after they leave the classroom. What we will cover: — Why experiential learning is particularly powerful in the early years — How to structure hands-on activities so they build identifiable skills, not just fun moments — What skills development looks like in practice for children from reception
