RECURRING CANDIDIASIS There are two fundamental elements to understanding women's health according to Ayurveda. The first is Vata dosha, more specifically, apana vayu, which is responsible for expelling waste from the body, including menstruation. The second is diet. When your body is not ready to digest certain foods or even feelings, it ends up accumulating ama (toxins) that generate an imbalance in Vata dosha, leading to candidiasis. WHAT IS AYURVEDA'S VIEW ON CRAMPS? Cramps are shula (pain) and are a symptom of aggravated Vata. HOW TO IMPROVE PMS? During premenstrual periods, the body prepares for the shedding of the endometrium. To this end, Vata (apana vayu) becomes more intense to aid in the expulsion process. Most of the time, women need a moment of rest, of isolation. And they don't necessarily get it, due to our busy schedules. What you can do to improve PMS is to listen to your body and respond to its needs. APPLICATION OF MEDICATED STEAM In Ayurveda, there are several types of treatments applied to the female intimate area. One is oiling. The other is steaming with medicated substances. HORMONE REPLACEMENT DURING MENOPAUSE Hormone replacement therapy is not necessary for all women; it depends on each case. In general, problems that arise after menopause are a consequence of an unhealthy lifestyle prior to this period. In other words, menopause is not the cause of the disease; it merely highlights a problem that was already developing. HOW DO THE DOSHAS BEHAVE DURING THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE? Vata dosha plays an important role during the menstrual cycle. CAN YOU WORK OUT DURING YOUR MENSTRUAL PERIOD? This varies from month to month. If your Vata is physiologically aggravated and you engage in physical activity, it tends to worsen further, which can lead to cramps and other discomforts. It's no wonder that classical Ayurvedic texts recommend that women rest during this period. HOW SHOULD WE EAT DURING MENOPAUSE? You should eat as you should every day: based on the frequency, quantity, and quality your body needs. Additionally, base your diet primarily on plants. CYSTITIS Cystitis is a bacterial infection of the bladder. The predominant clinical indication is to drink plenty of water and wait for your body to recover from the infection. From the Ayurvedic perspective, cystitis is caused by poor nutrition. Eating very unhealthy foods can facilitate the onset of cystitis. DOES THE MIRENA IMPAIR WOMEN'S HEALTH? It depends on the woman and whether she has any health problems. If there is a health problem, such as endometriosis, for example, the Mirena could help. But from an Ayurvedic perspective, if you block your menstrual flow, you are blocking Vata dosha. #ayurveda #women'shealth #womenshealth
