Joe Hisaishi - One Summer's Day (Spirited Away Theme) - Harmonic and Structural Analysis
I harmonically analyzed Joe Hisaishi's "One Summer's Day" which is a theme of wonder and mystery that enchants the viewer in Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli. I did this using both lead sheet symbols and roman numeral analysis. I also analyzed how the themes used in this piece were structured and annotating anything else that I found important. I use my own unique form of Roman numeral analysis that borrows the inversion system from German functional analysis. The bass note is indicated below the Roman numeral (e.g. 3 = 3rd of the chord is in the bass.) Extensions are notated like those in chord symbols. Note that the transcription I used varies ever so slightly from this specific performance.
