The number of people claiming to be children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paulo Kafeero has reportedly surpassed 43, turning the ongoing DNA verification exercise into a major family affair. More than 24 alleged children have already undergone DNA testing to determine their biological relationship to the late music icon, with additional claimants continuing to come forward in the days that followed. The tests follow the exhumation of Kafeero's remains on June 1, 2026, which enabled forensic experts to collect bone and tissue samples needed to resolve a paternity dispute that has remained unresolved for more than 20 years. Family members say they did not anticipate such a large turnout when the process began. "On the first day we thought the exercise would involve only a few people, but the list keeps growing every hour," one family member revealed. "As a family, we hope the DNA results will finally give us the truth and bring this matter to an end." The DNA samples have been submitted to the Government Analytical Laboratory in Wandegeya and the Uganda Police Forensic Laboratory in Naguru for analysis. The results will determine which of the claimants, if any, are biologically related to the late singer, potentially bringing clarity and closure to the decades-old controversy.
