Preston Reed performing "Instument Landing" at Quay Arts, Isle of Wight 2010 Filmed by Rodney Hearth

“Instrument Landing” was originally recorded on an acoustic guitar in 1989 as the title tune to my first major label album on the Nashville label Universal (MCA). Years later I recorded an electric version for my 2004 album History Of Now. With an atmospheric melody carried totally by harmonics, this tune can work well on any kind of guitar. The title of the tune refers to a test that pilots must pass to get their pilots license — landing an airplane on the runway with the windscreen covered, relying solely the cockpit instruments.
