REGINA JOSÉ GALINDO | El poder de la performance
In this new chapter of ARTE EN QUARENTENA I interview Regina José Galindo, a poet and artist who adopts performance as a means of expression. She uses her body as a material for the creation of complex narratives, exploring the limits of her own "physicality" and even taking risks in order to highlight and denounce practices of submission in today's societies. Through a harsh and stark language, overcoming the mere idea of seduction or evocation, Regina José Galindo experiences in the first person the humiliations that man exerts on other human beings "condemned" to a submission that is given by their gender, sexuality, economic status, race or nationality. Through her actions, Regina José Galindo places the viewer in an uncomfortable reality that is known to participate. The performances carried out by the Guatemalan artist become a personal ritual of sacrifice, in order to make visible those peripheral and marginal groups that are relegated to a situation of inferiority.
