Aikido techniques with JO (staff) in hands, JO NO TEBIKI, by Stefan Stenudd
JO NO TEBIKI (杖の手引) is aikido techniques done with JO, the Japanese staff. The defender (tori) holds the jo and the attacker (uke) grabs it. This is much easier to deal with than JO DORI (杖取り), where the attacker is using a jo. That's because in jo no tebiki the attacker only gets to grab the jo with one hand instead of two. Often in aikido, this easier form is practiced much more than regular jo dori, where the attacker has a firm two-handed grip of the jo. So, both methods should be trained.
