100 yen coin from showa Japan 1995 rare coin
The Japanese 100 Yen coin was first introduced in 1957, during a period of economic growth in post-war Japan. Initially, these coins were made of silver, reflecting both the strength and aspirations of Japan’s economy at the time. However, as silver prices rose in the 1960s, it became impractical to continue minting circulation coins with precious metal. By 1967, the 100 Yen coin transitioned to a copper-nickel alloy, which remains the standard composition today.
