Ka 942 - King of the Alps (HD)

Mainline Steam trust ran a mainline excursion from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass behind streamlined Ka942 on Sunday 28th July 2013. Here is footage of the beast heading out of Christchurch and onto the Canterbury Plains. Next we head over to the Broken River Viaduct photo stop and then continued to another photo stop at Mt White Bridge. Thejn we see the locomotive being turned for the return journey to Christchurch. We head to Cass Bank where another photo shop was held and then some onboard footage heading through the river gorges. Next we take a look at the final photostop, Patterson's Creek Viaduct as the Ka does a few wheelslips just after the Viaduct. We then cross the Plains again stopping at Darfield and then one final shot heading into Christchurch. Thanks to KiwiRail and Mainline Steam for this great steam excursion.
