Miserere mei, Deus - Allegri - High Soprano Solo (Holy Week)
Miserere mei, Deus (“Have mercy on me, O God”) is Allegri’s setting of Psalm 51, written in the 1630s for the Sistine Chapel during Holy Week. Allegri's haunting Miserere is famous for both its ethereal beauty and for the mystery surrounding its composition. It is written for 2 choirs, who alternate phrases and then unite for a final resolution. I sing the high soprano solo in this performance. This is a live recording, so there is some audio disruption, but it captures the moment as it was. Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think and thank you all for your support 🙏🏼
