Greek Moussaka is an eggplant pie with meat and a potato base, the combination of which is exquisite. The meat filling is made with sautéed vegetables, then stewed with a little wine and tomato. Adding spices to your liking makes it a filling full of flavor and nuances. This Eggplant and Meat Pie is a complete treat, and although both the potatoes and eggplant are originally fried, I've opted to lighten the traditional moussaka by skipping the frying step and baking them in the oven with a few drops of oil. This also saves time, because while they're baking in the oven, we'll make the sautéed vegetables and then make the béchamel sauce. It's true that the recipe has many steps, but they're actually very simple, and it's definitely worth making this moussakka at home to enjoy with your guests. It's a surefire success, and can be served as a standalone dish, with a green salad if you like. MUSSAKKA. EGGPLANT AND MEAT PIE.
