Katseye was built to be a global girl group representing diversity, culture and modern womanhood. Six members. Six backgrounds. Six countries. And one Black woman who was recruited specifically because of the way she made people feel when she walked into a room. But then the Netflix documentary framed her as lazy. An official merch quiz listed her selfishness and laziness as answer options. She was excluded from promotional campaigns, music videos and milestone moments in ways that were documented, timestamped and never addressed. Then all of a sudden she went on "hiatus". This is the full story of Manon Bannerman. And it is not just about one group or one label. It is about a pattern that has followed Black women in girl groups for decades. Normani said it.
