A Young Parkinson's Patient: The Success Story of Stefani Nikolovski

🐝 Stefan Nikolovski is one of our Young-Onset Parkinson’s patients from Bulgaria. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of just 32. Although Parkinson’s is commonly thought to affect only older adults, approximately 5–10% of patients are diagnosed before the age of 50. Cases that begin before the age of 40 are referred to as Young-Onset Parkinson’s disease. Over the years, the disease had slowed Stefan’s movements, made daily life increasingly difficult, and forced him to give up one of his greatest passions: beekeeping. 💪🏼 Following the deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery we performed on November 24, 2025, a new chapter began in his life. As Stefan shares in his story, he is now able to care for his bees again, spend time with his family, live more independently, and even drive a car once more. 🙏🏻 Seeing a patient return to the work, hobbies, and life they love is one of the most meaningful aspects of being a physician. 🍀 Let us not forget: with timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, life can regain its movement, independence, and freedom.
