Why our van didn't pass the New Zealand Self Contained Campervan Test - Don't make these mistakes

Welcome back to another video in the van build series! This video was supposed to have a help ending, but they didn't prove to be the case. In this episode, I took our van to have it's New Zealand Self Contained assessment which is a test to ensure that the vehicle can fully meet its occupants' basic needs for a minimum of three days without needing external services or releasing waste, thereby protecting public health and the environment. This certification allows owners of recreational vehicles to access most public areas for freedom camping, assuring local authorities that they are responsible campers who pose minimal risk. Prior to the test, I followed genuine guidance on the internet, but this did not prove to be detailed enough! Resulting in a failure!!! This will be completely alien to a lot of my British viewers there isn't such a thing! You can build a van and just use it! But, we need to comply as it's a legal requirement here, so we will need to make some alterations. If you are building a van in New Zealand, then go to one of the SCNZ centres and get their advice. This would have saved me from this failure. The website is www.selfcontained.co.nz
