Magherafelt IRA bomb 23 5 1993
On 23 May in 1993 IRA terrorists planted a 500 lb van bomb at Ulsterbus depot, Magherafelt, Co Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It exploded narrowly missing a 3 year old child in bed and upset elderly people who had their long time homes damaged. Sinn Féin, the political wing of the IRA. had increased their vote. 4 IRA bombs in 4 days at estimated destruction cost to taxpayer £25+ million #OTD
