Production of Wood Inlay Strips - Diamond and Triangle Designs (125)

This video is part three of a video series on the production of wood inlay strips that can be used for furniture making jewelry boxes and even inlay strips or purfling strips for guitars. In this video I will describe the production of these diamond and triangle shaped wood inlay strips. The construction of these wood inlays is more complex since the alignment of the wood pieces is critical. I will describe in detail the slicing of the wood pieces, arranging the pieces into the desired shapes, gluing the assemblies and finally cutting the thin laminate strips to the desired thickness on the band saw. In part one of this video series, I described the production of these simple straight laminated wood strip Inlays for furniture production which can also be used as purfling strips for guitars. These were fairly simple designs using thin laminate wood strips of various contrasting woods and various thicknesses. In part two of this video series I described the production of some more complex herringbone and rope design wood inlay strips.
