The instant Vessel started singing, I felt myself getting pulled into the emotion of the song. At one point I literally had to show the goosebumps on my arm because the music hit me that hard. My interpretation was that the song speaks to wanting someone you love to trust you enough to let down their walls—to stop hiding their past, their pain, and their trauma. It felt like the narrator desperately wanted to be the person who could help carry that burden, while also longing for complete honesty and vulnerability in the relationship. Whether that’s exactly what the song means or not, that’s how it connected with me on this first listen.
