To preserve life, the state is often seen as the solution to counter the harmful effects of capitalism, but isn't it also part of the problem? The challenge: to build a shared daily life around basic necessities like food and shelter. Throughout history and across the globe, there is no shortage of experiences at various scales: ecovillages, cooperatives, indigenous peoples… Building autonomy while creating mechanisms of solidarity is a path worth exploring! Author, speaker, and freelance journalist specializing in environmental issues, Juliette published Autonomes et solidaires pour le vivant. S’organiser sans l’autorité de l’État (Le Bord de l’eau, winner of the Prix du livre engagé pour la planète at the Mouans-Sartoux Book Festival) in 2025. She also created a book series (with Pierre Rabhi, Presses du Châtelet): *Carnets d’alerte*, as well as a podcast and website of the same name: www.carnetsdalerte.fr. Six books have been published: *Ending World Hunger*; *Seeds: A Vital Heritage in Danger of Disappearing*; *The Excesses of Finance, or the Art of Legalized Predation*; *Water: The Nature of Us*; *Living Better Without Growth*; and *Humanity at Risk from Artificial Intelligence*.
