Why Read Fernando Pessoa?

This video introduces the works of Fernando Pessoa. The idea of inhabiting multiple selves, which for Pessoa shaped his inner world, and to see how that unravels in one’s literature that is also one’s own life. Through the lens of his prose and poetry, I briefly talk about themes of self-examination, alienation, the elusive nature of reality, and the search for belonging in one’s private imaginations. Fernando Pessoa’s writings articulate the complexities of life and the multifaceted nature of self-awareness. It’s wholesome, insightful, lucid, and passionate. His existential questioning redefined the boundaries of the self and life itself. One of the best literary experiences to be a part of, not just once, but time and time again.
