This ALLIGATOR SNAPPING Turtle Was Causing a BIG Problem (Catch and Cook)

After finding three of my wire crawfish traps crushed like tin cans and emptied of their catch, I finally set a heavy-duty line in the murky water to catch the culprit: a massive alligator snapping turtle. Hauling the line up felt like trying to drag a sunken engine block out of the mud, the surface of the bayou suddenly boiling as a prehistoric, algae-covered beast broke through. With a spiked carapace that looked straight out of the Jurassic period and a massive, hooked beak hissing at the humid air, it thrashed with surprising speed and power. Keeping a very respectful distance from those bolt-cutter jaws, it took two of us grabbing the heavy ridges at the back of its shell to safely hoist the dinosaur-like reptile into a tub, eventually relocating him to a deeper, wilder stretch of the swamp where he could hunt without destroying any more of my gear.
