🌏 Become friends with Setegi: https://bit.ly/WorldTravel_EBS The Camino de Santiago, stretching across Spain and France, is a pilgrimage route spanning 800 kilometers leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where Saint James, one of Jesus's twelve disciples, is laid to rest. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this ancient path allows you to encounter dazzling nature, humble people, traditional culture, and food brimming with the scent of life as you trudge along. Among them, the most popular is the Camino Frances, starting the journey in Burgos, an intermediate stop. The pilgrimage begins in earnest after enjoying a dish made with Morcilla de Burgos, which closely resembles Korean blood sausage (sundae). At an albergue (pilgrim hostel) where I stopped along the way, I enjoyed Sopa de Alubias, a delicacy and revitalizing meal for weary pilgrims, and gained strength from the hospitality of the residents of O Cebreiro. Passing through La Cruz de Ferro, where the hearts of pilgrims gather, I enjoyed a meal made with Botillo, a type of sausage, with the villagers in Molinaseca before finally arriving at Santiago de Compostela, the final destination of the pilgrimage. Here, I made sure to experience Empanadas, which have long been a treat for pilgrims and shepherds embarking on long journeys, as well as Zamburiñas a la Plancha (grilled scallops), a dish served to encourage those who have completed the course. Then, heading to the Galicia region and La Coruña—which the ancient Romans considered the "end of the world"—we see the Tower of Hercules, built during the Roman era.
