While police have intensified their investigation into the incident, residents particularly women have taken to the streets demanding swift justice for the victim. The protesters urged the authorities to ensure a fast and transparent probe and called for the strictest possible punishment for those involved in the crime. Emotional scenes were witnessed in the area as locals expressed deep shock and grief over the incident. It is pertinent to mention that Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, while speaking to the media yesterday, said that prima facie the case appears to be rape and murder.
