Jetour T1 Off-Road… And It Got Damaged 😬 | T1 XPLORA XWD

The Jetour T1 XWD is one of the boldest new SUVs entering South Africa right now — but today we’re finding out if it’s just about looks… or if it can actually handle real off-roading. ⚠️ First things first — this is the T1, not the T2. The T2 might be the one people compare to a Defender, but the T1 has its own bulky, futuristic identity. In this review, I break down: • Exterior design and road presence • Engine performance and power figures • Interior quality (that teal-green luxury spec 👀) • Passenger comfort with reclining seats & leg rest • Off-road capability and XWD system • The diff lock limitation (only activates automatically in X Mode) • Fuel consumption • Overall ownership impression To properly test it, I took the T1 to the Groenkloof 4x4 Trail in Pretoria. Now here’s the honest part. The car was running on road-going tyres — and while it handled two obstacles surprisingly well, it did struggle on tougher sections. I ended up with: • A scratched rim • A punctured side skirt It survived, but this isn’t a hardcore rock crawler. The XWD system works well for lifestyle off-roading, but the fact that you can’t manually engage the diff lock outside of X Mode is something buyers should know. Still… the interior, tech, comfort and presence of this SUV make it a very interesting value proposition. This is my honest, real-world review.
