KOMPAS.TV The wave of demonstrations by students and community groups that took place in several regions throughout June attracted widespread public attention. This high level of public attention was reflected in the significant media coverage and social media conversations discussing various issues raised by the demonstrations. Based on Binocular research, between June 11 and 23, there were more than 16,000 media reports and over 333,000 social media conversations related to the demonstrations, with a total of 379 million interactions. Negative sentiment dominated the news at 55 percent, followed by positive sentiment at 41 percent, and neutral sentiment at 4 percent. The peak of news coverage occurred on June 12 and 15. In terms of media type, online media dominated the news, accounting for 89 percent, far exceeding electronic media at 7 percent and print media at 4 percent. Meanwhile, Instagram was the most frequently used platform for conversations about the demonstrations, followed by Twitter and YouTube. This high level of activity demonstrates the significant level of netizen engagement in following developments in the demonstrations. The research also noted the five most discussed issues: student demonstrations, the Minister of Religious Affairs' statement urging demonstrations to be civil, the controversy surrounding the UBK Student Executive Board's meeting with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, concerns about the actions of the authorities, and the government's response to fuel prices.
