We built a Waterproof Deck... and it was easy

Building a deck that is waterproof, keeping the space below protected from rain dripping through the deck above! In this video, we’re building a simple yet durable 12’ x 12’ deck off the back of the house—no stairs, just a straightforward setup. We’ve laid a solid foundation with deep footings to ensure long-term stability. Join us as we go through each step, from laying out the deck to building the structure, installing no-drip Duxxbak Decking, and a beautiful lit railing from KeyLink Railing. For a secure structure, we’re using Simpson Strong-Tie fasteners, including 4-inch timber screws for strength and efficiency. We’re also trying out DuxxBak decking, a unique product designed to divert rainwater, keeping the space below dry. This waterproof decking system is all you need to keep the space below nice and dry. And we plan to connect it to a gutter system to control runoff. Our deck railing system features KeyLink’s sleek black cable railing, the Chesapeake Series, adding style while minimizing visual obstruction. Plus, we’re adding integrated LED lighting to bring a warm glow to the deck in the evenings.
