Risk and Outcomes of DILI in Patients with Underlying Liver Disease by Prof. Naga Chalasani

Dr. Chalasani currently serves as David W. Crabb Professor of Medicine and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health. He previously served as the Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2007-2020) and Chair of the Department of Medicine (2020-2021, interim) at Indiana University School of Medicine His research is focused on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and drug-induced liver injury (DILI), two highly significant public health problems. His research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1999. He is a founding principal investigator of the NIDDK-funded NASH CRN and is the PI for the HIV NASH CRN. He is the founding PI for the NIDDK-funded Drug-Induced Liver Injury Network and is the lead author for the ACG Practice Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Drug-Induced Liver Injury. He published 325 original papers, 3 Practice Guidelines, 47 book chapters/review articles, 35 editorials/commentaries, 18 symposium proceedings, and more than 600 abstracts (Google Scholar H-index 102, i10 index 337 with ~ 52,000 citations). He is an elected member of the Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI), and the American Association of Physicians (AAP).
