The three employees were confined because their feet were handcuffed and chained with steel rope. The detention was uncovered after the victim's parents sought protection from the West Kalimantan Youth Forum Legal Aid Institute (LBH). The victim's parents claimed their child, identified as A, was being held captive and demanded Rp 50 million (approximately US$3,000). They claimed to have paid the requested amount, but their child has not been released. Victim A also reportedly suffered violence in the form of beatings. LBH West Kalimantan Youth Forum then visited the location of the victim's detention. They shared a video of the raid on their Instagram account. They then found A shackled in the warehouse with his legs cuffed. A said there were two friends who had also suffered a similar fate on the second floor.
