Command Attention on the Internet | Ish | Alexander Kisiel | TEDxASU

In a world where every post competes against everything ever uploaded to the internet, attention has become one of the most valuable and misunderstood resources on earth. Drawing from years of experience creating viral content viewed by millions, this talk breaks down the hidden psychology behind storytelling, virality, audience retention, and why some ideas spread while others disappear instantly. More than a guide to succeeding online, it reveals timeless human principles about meaning, connection, and what truly makes people care. Alex Kisiel is a YouTube content creator with over 2 million subscribers and 130 million total views. On his channel (named “ish”), he is known for producing massive-scale Minecraft "civilization" videos that explore human behavior, government, and politics. His most recent film “1000 Players Simulate Civilization: Rich & Poor” has been viewed over 37 million times, with a rating of 9.5/10 on IMDb and an award from Mojang. Alex is also a scriptwriter, narrator, and video editor, and has collaborated with top creators, including MrBeast. He is currently a student at Arizona State University, majoring in Business (Law) with a minor in Media Content Creation. Outside of digital storytelling, Alex is a former managing editor of a college newspaper, a published author, and a classically trained musician. He also dabbles in competitive pickleball (albeit, less successfully). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
