Bedford Truck Restoration - Trying to Beat The January Blues One Shiny Nut & Bolt at A Time …

#41 - We had a bit of a break over Christmas and New Year, mostly due to the freezing weather conditions. We did manage to get quite a bit of filming done over the last few weeks though, and this video shows you what we've been doing in the interim. It's all nuts and bots and bits of metal lying all over the shop at the moment. We've been powder coating, zinc plating, taking things apart and putting them back together again, and generally just getting on with what we can over the winter. It's dark. It's cold. We've got the January blues. And in a few weeks we're going to be living in a caravan ... The only way is up, people, the only way is up ... ... We are Lisa & Tim and for the last 2 years we have been busy restoring this 1975 Bedford Firetruck which, in a moment of madness, we bought at the end of 2020 with the dream of turning it into an off grid rolling home on wheels. The dream is still alive ... just. After a few ups and downs, we are currently at the business end of this full on nut and bolt restoration. Having taken literally everything apart, we recently finished the arduous task of cleaning up and painting the 22ft chassis frame, and now we are working our way through all the stuff we removed from it ... From the engine to the humblest washer, it's all getting the star treatment. We're getting close. But for now, it's all in bits, and we're just taking it one day at a time ... ... This channel is the story of us, Tim & Lisa, and our attempt to build the World's Greatest HOUSE-on-WHEELS on the World's Smallest Budget ... A unique motorhome, if you like, part vintage 70s, part off road overlander, all tiny home on wheels. We are 2 'old enough to know better' artists from Cornwall in the UK, and together we are building this off-grid home on wheels from the remains of a 1975 Bedford Firetruck. We bought the truck on eBay at the end of 2020 and had it delivered by an even bigger truck to a huge, old barn-on-a-farm we are renting to use as our workshop whilst we undertake this challenge. Well, several months and a few set backs later, we’re currently in the process of ‘lovingly’ restoring the base vehicle, taking the whole thing apart, piece by rusty piece, so we can make it all new and shiny again, before we embark on the even bigger task of building a home on its back out of nothing more than grit, imagination, sweat, tears and possibly a bit of magic and wishful thinking!
