Fiat 1.4 Liter Multiair Turbo Build, plus a Battleship!
I'm putting together my Fiat 124's 1.4 mulitiair engine, so I thought this would be a good time to show some of the engine's features and the internal mods I am adding. A few notes as I made this video with no script, and no plan, I was totally shooting from the hip which means there are a few inaccuracies, these are cleared up below: The actual term for the main bearing assembly is the "bedplate". The RTV sealant suggested in the manual is "Mopar Engine RTV Gen II". It's like silicone RTV, but NOT silicone RTV. I should have made that clear. Silicone can't be used because it will break down in the oil. This will cause two problems, first it will cause oil leaks, second, a small amount of that oil, will make it to the combustion chamber and the silicone residue in the exhaust will damage the O2 sensors. There may be other sealants that are just fine in this application, but I am sticking with the factory stuff, even though it's expensive. My personal 500L has 110,000 miles on it, most of those with over 200hp, and still has zero oil leaks, so I know the factory stuff works well. When I showed the space to NOT use the sealant, that's correct. However it does not need to continue on the bearing side because that oil will just go back into the pan anyway, so a leak there doesn't have any adverse effects. The important thing here, is as I said in the video, don't clog that channel. At the time of the 1/4 mile run the car had the following mods from Eurocompulsion: Performance Intake: https://shopeurocompulsion.net/collec... Intercooler upgrade: https://shopeurocompulsion.net/collec... Phase 2 tune: https://shopeurocompulsion.net/collec... Turbo which can be found here: https://shopeurocompulsion.net/collec... (the turbo had no real effect on the 1/4 mile times as we were running the standard Phase 2 tune and the stock turbo is just fine at those boost levels) Yes, I do make money from these items as I work very closely with Eurocompulsion. So I have a commercial interest here, but I think the video is entirely factual. The Official auto and Air Fan Store is Here! https://gregs-airplanesandautomobiles...
