Hampi Day 4 | Sunrise at Mathanga Hill, Lotus Mahal & Royal Enclosure | Mumbai to Hampi

Day 4 in Hampi began before sunrise as I climbed Mathanga Hill to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises in Karnataka. As the first rays of sunlight illuminated the boulder-strewn landscape, Hampi revealed a completely different side of itself. From there, I explored the magnificent Achyutraya Temple, walked through the historic Courtesans' Street, and visited the Monolithic Bull before heading back to my homestay. A special moment of the day was watching Mayura, the elder son of my host, try riding my touring bicycle. In the evening, I ventured into the Royal Enclosure, the political heart of the Vijayanagara Empire. I explored the fascinating Underground Secret Chamber, discovered ancient Telugu inscriptions carved into stone, visited the Department of Archaeology Museum & Heritage Centre, and ended the day at the stunning Lotus Mahal—one of Hampi's most elegant monuments. The day concluded with dinner at the famous Mango Tree Restaurant, where I tried their South Indian meal and the much-talked-about Banoffee Pie. Hampi continues to surprise me with its history, architecture, and timeless atmosphere.
