A serious traffic accident on Ruta Viva in Quito left three people dead and nine injured after a semi-trailer carrying poultry feed lost control and dragged several vehicles for nearly two kilometers. Seven cars and a motorcycle were involved in the accident, according to reports from the Fire Department. The impact caused a tanker truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas to catch fire, forcing firefighters to conduct a controlled burn to prevent an explosion. The highway connecting the capital to the airport remained closed for several hours while the vehicles were removed and the causes of the accident were investigated.
