Outdoor HVAC Unit Fan Motor! Step by Step Troubleshooting, Capacitor, and Exact Resistance Readings! We go over where to start and what to look for when reading resistance with the POWER OFF and the motor disconnected/isolated. Even if you are not sure where the wires lead to inside the motor I show you how to confirm the exact correct resistance reading which will confirm that the motor is intact. This works for single-speed, single-phase PSC Motors such as Condenser and Heat Pump Fan Motors as well as Compressors. This is what is referred to as the three-wire setup which is the usual installation practice of the manufacturer. Replacement condenser fan motors sometimes come with what is referred to as a four-wire setup with installation instructions as a direct replacement. Supervision is needed by a licensed HVACR Tech while performing tasks as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.
