Falling asleep in prayer? Learn to pray with St. Thérèse!

We all need to learn to pray. The saints are our best teachers, because they show us how we frail human beings can open ourselves to the Holy Spirit and pray in union with Jesus. Do you ever fall asleep in prayer? In this video, I share a "pro tip" from St. Thérèse of Lisieux about falling asleep and it might surprise you. I base the video on the following quotation from her work "The Story of a Soul" (§8). “I ought to be extremely sorry at sleeping (for seven years) during my prayers and my times of thanksgiving. Well, I’m not sorry …. I think that little children please their parents as much when they’re asleep as when they’re awake. I think that in order to perform operations doctors put their patients to sleep. Finally, I think that the Lord ‘knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.’”
