Will Kim Petras’ Battle With Her Record Label Change The Music Industry?
I’m talking about the situation between pop artist Kim Petras and her label, Republic Records. Recently, Kim has expressed frustration with her label and has even gone as far as asked to be dropped due to a lack of control over her artistic vision and the way her music is released. She’s not trapped in the khia asylum, she’s trapped in the republic asylum. She has voiced frustrations on social media and even has gone as far as to share her new single “Pop Sound” on her own, off of streaming platforms. Perhaps the way Kim Petras is releasing her Detour / Pretour EP could cause a chain reaction that changes the way music is released in the future.
