To avoid leaving his wife alone on her birthday, a husband invites his mistress to his country house. To justify her presence to his wife, the husband also invites a friend to appear as if he were the mistress's lover. The husband, of course, is unaware that his wife is actually having an affair with this friend! The wife hires a temporary worker to run the household. Both the temporary worker and the mistress are named Brigitte, and this small detail will plunge the whole affair into a cascade of misunderstandings and mix-ups...
