From Tirol’s Mountains to Urban Grandeur After our alpine adventures in Tirol, we headed to the Austrian capital Vienna—a city of imperial palaces, elegant streets, world-class museums, and legendary coffee houses. One week was barely enough to scratch the surface, but join us as we explore Vienna’s must-see highlights! 🚶‍♂️ Walking the Ring Road & Vienna’s Old Town We kicked off our adventure with a scenic stroll along the Ring Road (Ringstraße), where Vienna’s medieval walls once stood. Today, it’s lined with historic buildings, parks, museums, and palaces. Along the way, we even greeted Mozart! 🍰 Café Culture: Sacher Torte & Viennese Cakes at Café Sacher No visit to Vienna is complete without sampling its famous cakes. We made the pilgrimage to the Hotel Sacher to try the original Sachertorte—a decadent chocolate cake topped with the iconic seal. We also sampled the Lilliput, a ring cake with ginger and candied orange. Both were delicious and lived up to the city’s sweet reputation. ⛪ St. Stephen’s Cathedral: Gothic Marvel & City Views We visited the St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom), marveling at its colorful tiled roof and soaring gothic towers. For panoramic city views, we took the elevator to the top for just €5.50—a must for every Vienna itinerary. 🎶 A Glimpse into Mozart’s Vienna We toured Mozart’s House, the composer’s only remaining residence in Vienna, where he wrote The Marriage of Figaro. Although filming wasn’t allowed inside, the experience was still a treat for music lovers. ⛪ St. Peter’s Church: Surprise Organ Concert Timing is everything! Our visit to St. Peter’s Church coincided with a live organ concert—a magical, unexpected highlight of our church-hopping adventures. 👑 Hofburg Palace & Imperial Splendor Next, we explored Hofburg Palace, the seat of Habsburg power, including the Sisi Museum, Imperial Apartments, and Silver Collection. Though filming was restricted, the interiors were stunning and worth the €13.90 entry fee. Don’t miss the Roman ruins outside! 🌳 Schönbrunn Palace & Palace Park For a breath of fresh air, we wandered the lush, free-to-enter palace park at Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. Even if you skip the palace tour, the gardens are a perfect spot to relax. 🥂 Nightlife, Sausage Stands & Vineyard Crawls Vienna comes alive at night! We joined friends for drinks and sampled the city’s famous Käsekrainer (cheese sausage).
