On this trip to Chiang Mai, we were still craving the delicious food, and so we went there again this time for lunch. The menu is a full checklist including a couple dozen Northern Thai dishes that you can choose from. Here’s what we ordered: Gai neung (ไก่เมืองนึ่งสมุนไพร) Gaeng hanglay (แกงฮังเล) Khua ho (คั่วโฮ๊ะ) Nam prik noom (น้ำพริกนุ่ม) Saa pak gad noi (ส้าผักกาดน้อย) Gaeng khae (แกงแค) Tam khanun (ตำขนุน) Total price - 670 THB ($21.35) While you can’t go wrong and just about everything you order will be delicious, I’m particularly in love with their Gai neung (ไก่เมืองนึ่งสมุนไพร), chicken in a huge amount of herbs and fresh spices, then steamed. It’s sensational. I think what stands out to me about the food at Huen Jai Yong (เฮือนใจ๋ยอง) is that everything is solidly good, it’s reliable, and a great family restaurant, and I think overall it’s one of the best Northern Thai food restaurants in Chiang Mai - that I’ve tried. Next time you’re in Chiang Mai, go check it out for authentic northern Thai food. It’s about a 15 minute drive from the center of the city.
