Location The temple sits at the border of Raghopur, Amhara, and Kanchanpur villages in Bihta, about 30-35 km from Patna and 2-5 km from Bihta Railway Station along the Patna-Aurangabad highway. Its forested origins give it a serene, green ambiance ideal for spiritual retreats. History Established around 370 years ago (1634-1638) by devotee Vidyanand Mishra, who brought a fragment of Maa Vindhyavasini’s sacred pind from Vindhyachal. Local lore links it to Mahabharata times, claiming the Pandavas worshipped here during their incognito exile in the dense jungle area. The current structure was rebuilt by villagers starting in 1958, with major work in 1997, evolving from a simple thatched hut over a pind. Architecture and Features Built in traditional Indian style with intricate carvings, vibrant paintings depicting myths, and a spacious complex housing smaller shrines of Devi’s forms. The sanctum features the ancient pind idol; post-closure, lore says the goddess roams freely, so even priests leave. It’s known for vehicle blessing rituals, drawing crowds for new cars or bikes. Timings and Festivals Morning- 4am to 12pm, Evening-4pm to 8pm Open daily, with peak crowds on Sundays, Tuesdays, and during Navratri for special decorations and pujas—numbers surge yearly. dawn-to-dusk worship; evenings see heightened devotion. Navratri brings rituals, bhajans, and prasad distribution.
