Wind turbines are a crucial component of the energy transition. And yet, they are also a target of hatred for opponents of renewable energy. Besides claims of being "ugly," "bird shredders," and infrasound and particulate matter – all of which we scientifically debunked in episode two of this series – it is repeatedly asserted that the turbines cannot be recycled. The rotors and foundations, in particular, are said to be permanent waste. But even this is only partially true. While the foundations can be almost completely reused, the rotors present a challenge.
