This is all that is left of Prum Air Station located in the Eifel region of Rheinland Pfalz, Germany. It's a sad sight to see what the Air Station has become. I was assigned here from Nov 86 till our unit was moved to Zweibrucken Germany in 1989. I have very good memories and lots of "war" stories from here. Puts a lump in my throat to see it run down like this. But, progress marches on. Prum Air Station opened in 1950 it closed in 2004. It was the home for the following units: 615 AC&W Squadron 603rd AC&W, Det 0600 601st Tactical Control Squadron OL-A 601 Tactical Control Group OL-A 886CS U.S. Army 612th Tactical control Flight Det. 0600, 86th Air Division AFCENT Det 23, 1945th Comm Group Det 1, 36th Combat Support Group 7025 AIR Postal Squadron Det 2, 2139 Comm Det 106th Army SSO Company 593rd Signal Battalion 66 CSS Company "A" 447th Signal Battalion If I've missed anyone, please feel free to post a comment below and I will add it to the list. To most people this video is not to interesting. But, to those of us that were assigned here, we have very fond memories of this place. We forged life long friendships that are just as strong now as they were then. Some of us even started families here. There is a very special bond between military personnel, and even more so for those of us that were lucky enough to be assigned to Prum Air Station.
