Tamaki Maori Village tour

A pōwhiri is a traditional Māori ceremony where manhiri (visitors) are welcomed on to a host marae (meeting place) by the mana whenua (home people of the land). This Maori cultural tour, is a full on 3.5 hour comprehensive tour. It showcases the welcoming ceremony, with demonstrations of the traditional art of weaving, games. They also show you how the "Hangi" method for cooking meats and vegetables. The evening ends with a huge feast of Maori dishes such as steamed corn, vegetables and meat like chicken and lamb.
